Diddy After Reported The Infamous B.I.G.’s ‘My Downfall’ Was Influenced by His Anger

Rapper The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 sophomore album Life Right after Death contained a large assortment of thoughts, from unhappiness to fury to pleasure. Biggie very easily tells stories in his lyrics, and on the D.M.C. collab “My Downfall,” his terms are especially stinging.

D.M.C., co-founder of the hip-hop team Run-D.M.C., said he was pulled into the course of action by Diddy.

“Diddy identified as me up and asked me to do this section. It was taken from Run-D.M.C.’s ‘Together Forever’ — the portion in which I said, ‘MCs have the gall, to pray and pray for my downfall,’” D.M.C. remembered. “At 1st I believed they wished me to arrive there just so they could sample from the first report. But they were like, ‘Nah, D, we want you to do it in excess of.’ When that history arrived out, it was the biggest issue in the earth for me. It made me huge as f***. It made me relevant to today’s kids. In all places I went, it was like, ‘Yo, D.M.C.’s on Big’s album.’”

Diddy mentioned The Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘My Downfall’ was encouraged by his anger

Biggie labored with a number of other writers on the track, such as Diddy. According to the Bad Boy Records founder, the tone that Biggie was getting with his concept in the track stemmed from Diddy’s own annoyance.
