John Lennon Felt George Harrison Plagiarized ‘My Sweet Lord’


John Lennon was questioned about the controversy bordering George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord.” John replied that the music was plagiarized from a 1960s strike. Subsequently, John reviewed what he considered of George as a man or woman.

According to Stereogum, Vibrant Tunes sued George mainly because of the similarities among “My Sweet Lord” and The Chiffons’ “He’s So Fantastic.” Ultimately, Vivid Tunes received the lawsuit.

The e-book All We Are Expressing: The Final Significant Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono is an interview from 1980. In it, John was requested about the “He’s So Fine” situation. “Well, he walked right into it,” John said. “He knew what he was executing.”

John was questioned if George consciously plagiarized “My Sweet Lord.” “He will have to have acknowledged, you know,” John stated. “He’s smarter than that. It is irrelevant, essentially — only on a monetary degree does it matter.”
