A 16-year-old girl was arrested in Long Beach after leading police on a short pursuit in a vehicle she allegedly stole from a man in the Wrigley neighborhood Thursday morning, Nov. 19, authorities said.
The girl, who was not publicly identified, also allegedly shot the man during the carjacking in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Maine Avenue, Long Beach police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.
Police were called to the area on a report of a robbery about 2:50 a.m. and found a 25-year-old man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the upper body, Gallagher said. He was taken to a hospital by paramedics.
The victim told police the girl stole his vehicle, which was spotted by officers a short time later, Gallagher said.
Police took the teenager into custody without incident after the pursuit ended in the area of 7th Street and Daisy Avenue, and a firearm was found inside the vehicle, Gallagher said.
