Bicyclist dies after being hit by vehicle in East Bay

ANTIOCH — A bicyclist out on a ride Monday morning died after being hit by a vehicle, police said Tuesday.

The 57-year-old Antioch woman was not named immediately. Officers found her with major head injuries and non-responsive after being called to James Donlon Boulevard near G Street at about 8:20 a.m., police said.

She died later at a hospital after being air-lifted by a helicopter to a trauma center.

Police questioned the driver of the vehicle and said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The driver is continuing to cooperate with investigators, police said.
