East Oakland drive-by shooting under investigation

OAKLAND — Police were at the scene of a shooting in an East Oakland neighborhood, authorities said Sunday.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity at 93rd Avenue and Peach Street in the neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they found an injured man in the 2400 block of 94th Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to a leg and provided medical care until firefighters and paramedics arrived.

The victim was taken to a hospital where his condition was not immediately available Sunday evening.

Investigators were not immediately available to confirm a report of a newer white pickup truck possibly associated with the shooting and last seen northbound on 94th Avenue or reports of sideshow activity nearby in the area at the time.

Officers blocked streets nearby for an investigation, and recovered casings from at least one address in the 2300 block of 94th.
