Firefighters battle Moraga vegetation fire


MORAGA — Firefighters were responding to a vegetation fire, authorities said Sunday.

Just before 6 p.m., Moraga-Orinda Fire Department firefighters responded to reports of a fire near Irvine Drive off Harrington Road.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames with a moderate rate of spread in light fuels, and began an attack. CalFire and ConFire crews also joined in, with air resources.

The fire expanded from about five acres by 6:30 to 10 acres by just before 7 p.m. before reaching 50 percent containment at between 20 to 30 acres by 7:20 p.m.. There were no evacuations and no structures were threatened, authorities said.
