Golden Girl! Kacey Musgraves Nabs Best Country Song Grammy

💖

Forget Golden Hour – it may be a golden evening for Kacey Musgraves, who racked up two Grammy wins before the show even officially started. In addition to winning for best country solo performance, she took home the award for best country song for her tune “Space Cowboy.”

The country superstar won the award for best country song at the 2019 Grammys, beating out other hits including “Break Up In the End” (Cole Swindell), “Dear Hate (Maren Morris feat. Vince Gill), “I Lived It” (Blake Shelton), “Tequila” (Dan + Shay), and “When Someone Stops Loving You” (Little Big Town).

According to the Recording Academy’s website, the award for best country song goes to the songwriters who penned the popular singles or tracks. Musgraves penned her genre-defying song “Space Cowboy” alongside Luke Laird and Shane McAnally.

Musgraves’ nomination in this category comes alongside three other Grammy nominations this year including best country solo performance for her song “Butterflies” and two nods for her alternative country album Golden Hour, which was nominated for both best country album and album of the year.

The singer is also slated to take the stage on Sunday alongside Katy Perry, and fellow nominees Maren Morris and Little Big Town to accompany Dolly Parton in an epic mashup performance. But she got an early start on the Dolly tribute, tweeting a few shots from Saturday’s MusiCares red carpet alongside the country legend and writing “LIFE = MADE.”
