Kulture: Is Cardi B’s name for her daughter better or worse than Stormi, Chicago, Sir or True?

Cardi B on Tuesday announced the birth of her first child — a baby girl — with not-so-secret husband Offset.

But the world wasn’t abuzz over the flamboyant 25-year-old rapper finally giving birth after spending months teasing fans over whether she was pregnant.

Rather, people had lots to say over the fact that Cardi B and Offset actually did something pretty predictable: They abided by the grand, celebrity tradition of affixing an usual, attention-grabbing name to their offspring.

In her decidedly Beyonce-like floral birth announcement, Cardi B announced that their little girl will go forth into the world with the name Kulture Kiari Cephus.

Yes, Kulture!

Then again, as Vulture said, this name is rather on brand given that her father’s last two albums with Migos were “Culture” and “Culture II.”

Meanwhile, among the many opinions coming from Twitter Tuesday was this post pointing out that unique names also is a tradition in the families of Cardi B and Offset. She was born Belcalis Marlenis Almanza, while Offset came into the world called Kiari Kendrell Cephus.

But then this Twitter user also stated what many might be thinking: “They couldn’t just name their baby Jennifer.”

Lissen, Cardi B’s name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanza and Offset’s name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, they couldn’t just name their baby Jennifer.

I’m here for extra spicy, Hogwarts spell-ass names. Welcome to the world, Kulture!

Of course, trend-setting rappers like Cardi B and Offset can’t just name their baby Jennifer!

And, as this user and others furthermore pointed out, plenty of people saw some Harry Potter/Hogwarts kind of spell-conjuring magic at work in the name choice.

There’s a new spell in town.

Let’s now run through a shortlist of unique names that celebrities have come up with in recent years, and let’s consider how Kulture will stand in this pantheon.

— True, from Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson
— Stormi, from Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott
— North, Saint and Chicago, from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
— Strummer, from Julia Stiles & Preston J. Cook
— Blue Ivy, Sir and Rumi, from Beyonce and Jay-Z
— Bodhi Soleil, from Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder
— Dream, from Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna
— Journey River and Bodhi Ransom, from Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green
— Bear, from Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll

And, reaching far, far back, we can find perhaps the prototype for this current celebrity baby-naming trend:
— Apple, from Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

As someone else on Twitter noted: “No celebrity baby name is more terrible than Apple. We can live with Kulture.”
