Man dies on Richmond BART station platform; foul play not suspected

RICHMOND — An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday to determine the cause of death of a 56-year-old man who died on a BART station platform Wednesday night, authorities said.

Authorities did say foul play is not suspected.

The man’s name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.

The man was found unresponsive at about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday on the platform at the Richmond BART station, authorities said.

Despite efforts to revive him by a BART police officer and medical personnel who responded, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death.
