An Orinda man died Sunday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency while driving on a freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities on Monday identified him as 55-year-old Christopher Lang of Orinda.
According to the CHP, officers pulled up to find a gray Honda stopped on the right shoulder of southbound Interstate 680 just south of the Treat Boulevard exit. By the time they arrived to the car, Lang was dead, the CHP said.
No other vehicles were involved, and a crash did not occur, the CHP said.
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy, but it has not yet been scheduled. Authorities said they assume Lang had a medical emergency while he was driving.
