Man grazed by bullet in East Oakland shooting

OAKLAND — Police were at the scene of an injury shooting in an East Oakland neighborhood Friday afternoon, authorities said.

At 3:27 p.m., police responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 1600 block of 98th Street in the city’s Cox neighborhood..

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been grazed and wounded by a bullet, and provided him care. His condition was not immediately known.

Other officers arrived and blocked off Walnut at mid-block and at 100th Avenue to help process the scene and recover multiple casings. The incident remained under investigation, a police officer said late Friday afternoon.

For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $5,000 in each shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.
