Lane closures are scheduled on Highway 101 in Palo Alto for two consecutive nights, starting Thursday, Caltrans said.
The closure notice covers southbound lanes between Embarcadero and San Antonio Road from 8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, to 6 a.m. Friday, April 30. West Bayshore Road, which parallels the freeway on the west side, will be fully closed.
The following night — 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, to 6 a.m. Saturday, May 1 — there will be closures of northbound lanes and of East Bayshore Road, on the other side of the freeway.
Road crews will be installing segments of a bike and pedestrian bridge across both stretches of Bayshore Road near Adobe Creek, said the department of transportation. The installation of the center part of the span, over the highway, is expected to take place in May.
Lighted signs will advise drivers of closures and of detours for the Bayshore Road traffic.
Prefabricated bridge segments will be attached to the ramps that have been built at Bayshore Road.
