Martinez police find man’s body in Alhambra Creek

MARTINEZ — Police detectives are investigating a man’s body that was found in the Alhambra Creek, authorities said Monday.

Around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a “man down” call for an unresponsive person with some visible injuries, police said in a Monday afternoon statement.

Officers soon found a white male in his fifties and initially determined he had died before their arrival, police said. Detectives also responded to the scene, as did Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters.

The man’s identity was withheld due to processing at the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division and next-of-kin notification.

Anyone with information may call the department’s non-emergency number at 925-372-3440.

Contact George Kelly at 408-859-5180.
