
OAKLAND — Streets in the Eastlake area were shut down Monday afternoon while police tried to convince a man with a gun barricaded inside a camper to surrender, authorities said.
Police encountered the man Monday morning while they were doing follow-up investigation in the stabbing death of a 52-year-old Hayward man that happened at about 9:54 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Seventh Avenue.
The man refused to come out of the camper, which was parked on Seventh Avenue, and SWAT officers were requested to the scene just after 2 p.m. while police negotiators continued to talk to the man.
Numerous streets in the area, including portions of East 12th Street and International Boulevard were shut down while police were on scene.
No injuries have been reported.
