Peninsula man indicted on charge of distributing child pornography

A federal grand jury has indicted a San Mateo man on a charge of distributing child pornography after allegedly sending out a video of a minor engaged in sexual conduct, authorities said.

The indictment against the man identified by authorities as 24-year-old Christian Guardado, was unsealed earlier this month, according to U.S. Attorney David Anderson of the Northern District of California. Guardado made his initial court appearance Monday after being arrested Jan. 8, authorities said.

Guardado, whom authorities said was once associated with a children’s camp, is scheduled to be in court Thursday for a detention hearing. He is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

According to authorities, Guardado is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy in the fall of 2018, and videotaping it. Federal prosecutors said Guardado sent one of the videos to another person and that he made at least one other pornographic video with another suspected underaged victim that he sold to somebody else.
