Popeyes chicken, superstar introducing Megan Thee Stallion Hottie Sauce

Talk about a sizzling sponsor.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is teaming up with Megan Thee Stallion, the boundary-busting superstar, on a spicy new sauce for the chain’s wildly popular crispy chicken sandwiches and new nuggets.

On Oct. 19, Megan Thee Stallion Hottie Sauce will make its debut at all U.S. restaurants, along with a line of co-branded merchandise. “Thee Heat” gear will include bikinis, shirts, sweaters, hats and tumblers for starters, with more merch rolling out during the month of November.

The new sauce, made with honey, cider vinegar and Aleppo pepper, “flaunts a sweet, yet bold flavor with a hint of spice, inspired by Megan’s sassy personality,” according to Popeyes.

And the Hot Girl didn’t just lend her name and saucy input to Popeyes. The singer is also becoming a restaurant owner, the company announced Thursday, though no details were released about where her first franchise will be located and when it will open.

The cult phenom (we mean the chicken) got its start in 2019 when the New Orleans-born chain introduced sandwiches to its national menu. Before that, the company founded in 1972 had been frying up chicken pieces, tenders and boneless wings, but never breast filets for sandwiches.

Popeyes’ spicy riff drew long lines of customers — and inspired other restaurants to up their game. For those too timid to try Megan’s Hottie Sauce, the sandwich is also available with a semi-spicy Cajun spread or, in the Classic version, mayonnaise. All three are topped with barrel-cured pickles and served on a buttered, toasted brioche bun.
