San Leandro: Man and woman found dead in apparent murder-suicide

SAN LEANDRO – A couple was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide early Monday in San Leandro, authorities said.

Officers went to the 15000 block of Crosby Street around 1 a.m. for a welfare check of a husband and wife at the request of family members, the San Leandro Police Department said in a news release.

A man and woman were found “suffering from fatal gunshots in what appeared to be a domestic violence murder-suicide,” police said. Police did not release any other details.

“Domestic violence sometimes goes unreported because victims don’t know whom to turn to for help,” said Lt. Ali Khana in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family in this tragic incident.”

Police advised anyone who has experienced domestic violence to call 9-1-1 or the Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments, or SAVE, 24-hour crisis line at 510-794-6055. The 24-hour National Domestic Violence Hotline can be reached at 800-799-SAFE (7233).
