SALT LAKE CITY — One man was found dead following a fire in a house near 1300 South and 1100 East Saturday morning.
Salt Lake fire officials reported that the blaze was extinguished and was mostly contained to a basement apartment in a house that also has an accounting office on the first floor.
The owner of the building said the deceased, who has not been identified, was a longtime tenant and a veteran.
First responders have also reported a grenade was found nearby the body of the deceased and both the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been called as well as a bomb squad. Whether or not the device is live, or a replicas, is unknown at this time.
