LAYTON — A 24-year-old man was killed Saturday morning after his car drifted into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle head-on, according to Layton Police Sgt. John Ottesen.
The crash happened about 6:40 a.m. on U.S. 193 near 900 West, and the two drivers were the only occupants in the vehicles. The other driver sustained no apparent injuries in the accident but was taken to the hospital by a family member afterward for precaution, according to Ottesen.
The accident was precipitated when a westbound black passenger car drifted into oncoming traffic and hit an eastbound white truck. Ottesen said police are currently unsure what caused the black car to leave its lane.
“No indicators at this time that alcohol or drugs are involved, and that is pretty much all the information we have at this time,” he said.
Traffic officers are investigating the accident.
