Denver Issue 2F: Denver City Council special meetings

If approved, the measure would allow the mayor of Denver and/or any three council members to call a special meeting of the council as long as they provide written notice at least 24 hours in advance.

The case for: This would afford the council greater independence and versatility in calling meetings, which has proven challenging throughout the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The case against: If not properly publicized, meetings called with just a day’s notice in advance could easily be overlooked by members of the public to whom the meetings rightfully are open.
