Kudos to Harris for bill to
give a credit to renters
Re: “Harris housing bill would give renters tax credit” (Page B1, April 10):
In the outrageously priced Bay Area, I know of people who have lived in garages, storage units and their cars, despite working hard at jobs or striving to finish their schooling.
So kudos to Sen. Kamala Harris for offering a bill to address the housing crisis by giving a credit to renters who spend over 30 percent of their income on rent and utilities, lifting nearly 8 million Americans out of poverty.

As a child, I was appalled by the contrast I saw between great wealth and impoverishment in developing countries. I had not expected to see such a thing one day in my own community. We are better than this.
