Here’s a look at the top track and field performances in Utah so far during the 2021 season

With many schools on spring break last week, it was a pretty quiet on the track in Week 4 with just three UHSAA sanctioned meets across the state.

There were still a lot of great performances turned in nonetheless, most at the Alpha Invitational at Timpanogos during the week — which included a new boys 4×100 overall state record.

Corner Canyon’s 4×100 team of Cody Hagen, Noah Kjar, Cody Strong and Harrison Taggart posted a time of 41.44, besting the previous overall state record set by Orem in 2015.

Perhaps the second-best performance at the Alpha Invitational was turned in by West Jordan senior Austin Klinger, who posted a scintillating time of 1:50.61 in the 800 meters, which was less than a second off of the overall state record time of 1:49.77 that was set back in 2016.

Here’s a look at the top 15 boys and girls track & field performances in all 38 events for the 2021 season.

Individuals are only listed once if they have multiple top-15 results in the same event and wind times are not included. Only performances at in-state sanctioned meets are included.

Note for coaches, if one of your athletes has a top-15 performance that isn’t listed, please contact prep editor James Edward at prepstats@deseretnews.com.
