Is St. Francis football star Darrell Page still on team?

MOUNTAIN VIEW — It appears record-setting running back Darrell Page is no longer on the St. Francis football team.

Sources outside of the program have said or speculated that he is not.

St. Francis principal Katie Teekell declined to comment, citing “confidential issues involving minors.”

Coach Greg Calcagno also would not comment, referring to Teekell’s email, which said Calcagno is “bound by the same guidelines relative to confidentiality.”

When asked who would run the ball this season in an interview Friday about a team preview, Calcagno named five players but not Page, last season’s Bay Area News Group offensive player of the year and the West Catholic Athletic League’s most valuable running back.

The team is expected to release its roster early next week.

Page, now a senior, took over as St. Francis’ primary runner in 2017 and broke a 21-year-old school rushing record, finishing with a Central Coast Section-best 2,294 yards in 307 carries with 23 touchdowns as the Lancers won Northern California regional and state championships.

He is listed as a two-star college prospect by 247Sports, with offers from San Jose State, Sacramento State and Howard.
