NFL Week 6 picks: Rams extend 49ers’ skid in NFC West power move

Long story short, here are my NFL picks for Week 6, with the Raiders among those with byes before any possible COVID-19 rescheduling:

Rams 33, 49ers 26: First time since 2018 I’ve picked against the 49ers. ‘Bout time I give them bulletin-board material. Do they still make bulletin boards? Line: Rams -3 1/2

Titans 30, Texans 21: So the Titans are the NFL’s version of the Miami Marlins, who overcame a COVID-19 outbreak to remain in championship contention. Line: Titans -3

Ravens 23, Eagles 20: Last season’s leading rushers per carry: Lamar Jackson (6.9-yard average), then the 49ers’ Raheem Mostert (5.6). This season’s leaders: Jackson (7.2), then Mostert (7.0). Line: Eagles +7 1/2

Steelers 27, Browns 22: The Browns’ only win at Heinz Field was in 2003, when Baker Mayfield was 8. Line: Steelers –3 1/2

Vikings 28, Falcons 24: Firing the coach got the Texans into the win column last week, but not the Falcons this week. Line: Vikings –3 1/2

Jaguars 23, Lions 21: It’s a race to see which coach gets fired next – after the Jets’ Adam Gase. Line: Jaguars +3 1/2

Colts 27, Bengals 20: Philip Rivers, proud father of nine children, is due … for his first multi-touchdown game as a Colt. Line: Bengals +7 1/2

Bears 26, Panthers 21: The NFC Overachievers Bowl goes to Chicago, which improves to 3-0 on the road. Line: Bears +2 1/2

Washington 24, Giants 23: With judiciary talk all the rage, Joe Judge is confirmed for his first win as Giants coach. Line: Washington +3

High school cross-country: Hurricane’s Caila Odekirk and Josh Armstrong sweep 4A titles as Region 9 teams dominate state meet

Patriots 23, Broncos 13: Kudos to Vic Fangio, who aptly said this game’s postponement was miniscule compared to the bigger issue: “This virus has caused a lot of heartache and pain for our country in the amount of sicknesses, in the amount of deaths, what it’s done to our economy, and what’s it’s done to people’s livelihoods, people’s businesses.” Line: Patriots -9 1/2

Dolphins 27, Jets 20: The longest carries this season from Le’Veon Bell and Frank Gore: 13 yards. Bell carried a lot more loot out the door Tuesday, however. Line: Jets +9 1/2

Bucs 31, Packers 28: Tampa-area sports are on a heater, from the Lightning winning the Stanley Cup, to the Rays eyeing the World Series, to the Bucs ruining the Packers’ perfect start. Line: Bucs +1 1/2

Chiefs 28, Bills 26: Each team is coming off its first loss of the season. Gotta go with the team coming off a Super Bowl championship. Line: Bills +2 1/2

Cowboys 27, Cardinals 23: A decade ago, Andy Dalton led TCU to an undefeated record just down the road in Fort Worth. Channeling that success will help the Cowboys move on without Dak Prescott. Line: Cowboys +2 1/2

Last week: 10-4 straight up, 7-7 against the spread
