Watch: Blue Jays prospect Bo Bichette loses balance during HR swing

There is a certain Toronto Blue Jays prospect in double-A generating plenty of excitement with his bat and Instagram posts.

But, hey, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has a New Hampshire Fisher Cats teammate who shouldn’t be overlooked. Bo Bichette hasn’t exactly been tearing up the Eastern League, but maybe that will change soon, thanks to his efforts on Tuesday night.

The shortstop punished a hanging breaking ball from Hartford right-hander Chris Jensen in the seventh inning for his first homer of the season — and first ever at double-A.

Take a look at the smash and the vicious followthrough on Bichette’s swing that caused him to lose his balance. The 20-year-old managed to play it off smoothly, though, flipping his bat as he regained footing.

Bichette, ranked the No. 11 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, entered Wednesday hitting .279/.353/.421 with 14 extra-base hits over 34 games. Last year, across two levels in single-A, he batted .362/.423/.565 with 14 homers.

Also noteworthy from Tuesday game was Fisher Cats infielder Cavan Biggio belting his league-leading 11th home run of the season. The 23-year-old son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio is enjoying a breakout campaign, evidenced by his gaudy .422 on-base percentage and 1.135 OPS through 32 games entering Wednesday.
